VAT is paid once, at your border
Our invoice shows no VAT. When the boat enters your country, the customs authority charges import VAT at your national rate, directly to you through our import partner. You pay VAT exactly once, as you would for a boat bought at home.
Example: a boat invoiced at €10’000 and delivered to France. Our invoice shows €10’000. French customs then charge about 20% import VAT, roughly €2’000. Nothing else is added by us.
The steps of an import
- Export formalities at the shipyard and loading into a container
- Sea freight to the agreed port in your country, with live tracking
- Customs clearance by our import partner, import VAT paid by you
- Registration of the boat in your name, prepared and filed by us
- Handover at the port, or onward transport to your marina on request
Documents you receive
- CE declaration of conformity and the owner’s manual
- Hull identification number on the transom and in the papers
- Our invoice and the customs clearance documents
- Engine warranty papers and the registration certificate
When the risk passes to you
The risk passes to you when the boat is delivered to the agreed port in your country. Inspect the crate and boat at that moment and note any visible damage on the delivery documents before you sign. It is also the right moment for your insurance to start.
